Why is an intuitive interface so important?

Software surrounds us at every turn, and the average person not only uses a computer, but is also surrounded by smart devices (TVs, phones, watches, semi-autonomous cars, IoT devices, and finally, services available in the cloud). Now almost everyone knows that every smartphone has a stopwatch or timer, everyone knows where to find the recipe for a particular dish, and there are services such as a calcium calculator that allow you to quickly understand how balanced your diet is.
This variety of platforms, use cases and environments on which applications will run, for whom they are created and by whom they will be used, introduces another, but very important requirement – context. It is no longer enough to write correct, error-free code. Today, when designing and developing software, it is equally important how the end user would like to use such a program.
As a user, we are expecting something new. This is even more noticeable in the case of software designed for a specific purpose and for a limited group of users.
In the case of mobile applications, simplicity and intuitiveness of use, uninterrupted operation or the availability of new functions and versions in one click, as well as optimization of battery consumption and reasonable amounts of data transferred, are important, while for cloud services, reliability of the solution and many software options and opportunities.

Development of the interface itself. Using the example of the same ICQ: what is the best way to arrange the start page when the application is first launched (when the user is not logged in) and if he is already using the application? What is the best way to arrange the elements on the settings page so that the user is not frightened, but at the same time can customize almost everything?
